Submissions Guidelines for Smuhth-er
Submitting to Smuhth-er is simple. Flash Fiction work that is evocative, colorful, and original.
We are looking for works in the 300 to 700 word range but if you think your 25 or 1,000 words must be seen then by all means, send them in. We’d like submissions to be in the moment, by that we mean everyday life, relationships, exploration of emotions, fear, jealousy, torment, joy, bliss and love. Science Fiction yes but more about people and less about technology.
Experimentation is encouraged. Writing about the everyday is cherished.
Snuhth-er is currently part of this website because we thought exposing Flash Fiction to an audience that might not already be reading it could produce some interesting results and we are hoping some stories will get smeared with yellow mustard. In the future Smuhth-er may move to a totally different website or maybe not.
Your work should tangentially connect to the theme of the site. In case you are wondering, here is a jumbled list of hooks to help you find a direction.

Submissions can be experimental, jarring, and rated “R” but no hard core sexual content or violence for violence sake will be accepted. We reserved the right to add a rating next to the title if we feel it’s needed.
Please submit plain text into our Submissions Form Here. If you want a bio at the end of the story include it (25 word max) and please include a link we can put at the bottom of the piece allowing readers to get to your site, ( it must be your site not a third party site you are promoting).
1.All submitted work must be your original work and have not been published in any form anywhere else.
2. Please only submit one (1) flash piece at a time and only one submission each thirty (30) days
3.You own the work and are free to do with it what you like but we require you wait 4 weeks (30 days) from the time we publish it before publishing it anywhere else.
4.If you are submitting to other publications please tell us immediately if it is accepted elsewhere so we can avoid publishing it here.
5.We do reserve the right to excerpt from the work in reviews or promotion of Smuhth-er and we further reserve the right to place your work in either an electronic or hard copy compilation*
6. In addition to a link at the bottom of your story, once we have published three (3) or your flash pieces we will add a link to your website in one of our link lists on the website.
*Any profit from such compilation will be divided among the authors we are able to contact within a reasonable amount of time. Note if profits are less then mailing expenses we will donate all monies to some writing project.
If we change the wording of this agreement we will put a note at the top of the page for 30 days and we email all authors who have contributed to Smuhth-er.
